Porvenir Mission is the southernmost Methodist Chapel in the world, located on the island of Tierra del Fuego, Chile. In the two years of the Pandemic, the Chapel could not be attended, and although there are three families in Porvenir with ties to our church, the work has not been able to be consolidated with face-to-face activities so far in these 4 years.
Therefore, it has been decided to reorient the Mission in Porvenir by means of workshops for women from the city, such as: Crafts, recycling with fabrics for the care of the environment, felt workshop, crochet, etc. This will allow us to deliver the tools to women for their personal and family development, and to register their own families to work with children and experience the possibility of church meetings.
For this reason the District Superintendent, Revd. Ronny Pulgar Hughes, along with brother Manuel Montaña put on the overalls and spent 3 days working to fit out the property with basic amenities such as water, electricity and gas, cleaning the place and cutting the grass, which could be done without major inconveniences. Subsequently, visits were made to the families to encourage and pray for them. In the month of May there will be another visit to continue renovating the place.
