Where your Money Goes

The trust is administered by a team of volunteers and, apart from the unavoidable cost of bank transfers, 100% of what you give goes to supporting the Lord’s work in Chile.

Below are a few examples of the kind of help we have given during the last 25 years.

  • pay for prescribed medication for a pastor who was too poor to afford it and as a result was confined to bed.
  • buy a wood burning stove and a gas cooker for a church building – the members had gone through the previous winter with no heating in the church.
  • pay for the cost of hiring a coach to give a day’s outing to fifty Sunday School children who mostly came from poor, non-Christian homes.
  • pay for the construction of a rainwater tank to allow an infirm retired pastor with next to no income to irrigate his vegetables in the summer drought.
  • pay part of the bills of a Chilean missionary in Bolivia who couldn’t afford to come home because he had no money to pay outstanding gas and electricity bills.
  • pay for the purchase of doors and windows for a new rural church building.
  • pay for half the cost of cement for the foundations of a new Methodist Church.
  • provide a small quarterly allowance to a busy pastor whose church members are mostly unemployed.
  • give a grant of £5000 towards materials for an Indian family to build a house for themselves.
  • help repair a pastor’s house which caught fire – no insurance and no money!
  • support 100% a pastor’s daughter through university – by giving up his telephone he could afford to send his son to university but not his daughter as well – in her final exams she gained the top mark in her year.
  • pay for glass to replace the polythene in an Anglican bishop’s windows.
  • make a number of small grants to British gap year students teaching English in Chile.
  • buy Sunday School teaching material for several rural Methodist churches
  • pay for a well to be dug on the land of a retired pastor who had no running water.
